The RepatBissau travel agency!

Be useful to the greatest number while using my experience in tourism! It only took me one click to realize the obvious! The RepatBissau travel agency will specialize in "tourist" support for the return of the diaspora to the country.

The genesis

In March 2021, less than a month after my return, I agreed to participate in the adventure imagined by the American Repat, civil rights defender and professional swimmer, Siphiwe Baleka called "Decade of Return".

This program has been endorsed by the Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Culture.

The decade of return 2021-2031, on the example of the year of return from Ghana (Video) allows African-Americans who have taken a DNA test showing ethnic origins from Guinea-Bissau to participate in a journey of discovery of the country and apply for Bissau-Guinean nationality.

Not being a tourism professional and not knowing the country, Siphiwe needed a travel agency that would be the "armed arm" of this program. I spare you the long history of the partnership with a long-established agency which left the project 3 days before the arrival of the first travelers, for lack of big money to be made from the start. So, I take over urgently the organization of the 2 groups already scheduled on a voluntary basis, with 2 Guinean friends of Siphiwe (Mario and Balanto/Yama).

In May 2021, we received our first group of 5 members. Covid obliges, only 1 of the 5 met the President of the Republic, Umaro Sissoco Embalo.

In June, a group of 11 had a moment of exchanges with the representatives of different Ministries such as Tourism, Youth and Sports, Culture or Justice. Below, the media coverage of the group at the Ministry of Tourism.

The emotions felt and the strong testimonies of these tourists like no other, the first members of their families to return to the land of their ancestors after sometimes 8 generations have definitely convinced me that I must create the RepatBissau tourist agency myself. .

It had become obvious in order to be able to link the work started on this blog and my talents and skills acquired during my years of study.

After now 5 groups between May 2021 an May 2023, RepatBissau is officially registred (since 2022) as a Services and tourism agency.

On the importance of the “economic” diaspora

The diaspora descendant of slaves, therefore now has its gateway to reach the country. But there is another type of diaspora, those who fled the country in search of a better life. I myself am the daughter of immigrants from the 80s and my 2 little brothers have never set foot on their parents' land.

With the growing experience of the "Americans" program, I am ready to launch stays for this other category of person. These people who look like me the most, finally.

I would like to offer "Kunsi Guiné" stays from the end of 2023, specially designed for these children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren of Bissau-Guinean immigrants, who have sometimes had to completely deny this country to try to integrate with another. This sometimes caused trauma, confusion in the heads and in the hearts. Let's have no more doubts, these people belong to Guinea-Bissau, they are part of Guinea-Bissau, it is necessary for them to reconnect with their country of origin.
