GuinéTopia : Imagine the ideal Guinea-Bissau

During the Instagram Live on September 24, 2022, I mentioned the need to change the political matrix of the country in order to REALLY be able to change things. I have received requests for access to the political pamphlet that I have been writing since 2020. I put here the reading notice, the introduction which explains my approach. This document is collaborative. It should serve as a basis for reflection and is in no way a dogma to be followed to the letter.

I left the document in the form of google docs, so that I can continue to enrich it live but above all so that anyone can see the comments of others and leave some if necessary (with a Gmail account).

I eagerly await your feedback!

Reading notice

You will find here the non-exhaustive list of ideas, proposals and good practices that correspond to my beliefs and my values, in the first sense of utopia but far from being unachievable, of what I imagine of Guinea-Bissau of tomorrow.

I grew up with the phrase “Guiné facil kumpu” (Guiné is easy to build/run). I hope by this document to prove one day that this sentence is true.

I used to say that the advantage of being late is to be able to draw inspiration from the best in order to hope to surpass them. The chance that our generation (80-90-00’s) has is to be able to enjoy with ease the universal, giant, free and instant encyclopedia that is the internet. Thus we can analyze what is happening all over the world, understand THE stories and the processes that led to such and such an event. We also have the advantage of belonging to a moment in history when scientific research quickly highlights both good and bad practices.

This document is the modest work of a connected citizen, in the greatest paradox of the child of immigrants who is proud to be half bounty, half Black Panther. I am neither a doctor nor a professor and I have no deep knowledge in the fields mentioned. However, the idea that I have of a (true) democracy is to take into account the opinion of each citizen, no matter how uneducated, for the common good.

I try to understand the world and if certain initiatives respond to my deep values of justice, transparency and fairness, then I note them. And if tomorrow, I receive contradictory information that responds even better to these values, then I will change my mind. Only fools don't change, right?!

This document is written with an assumed political objective, in the posture of accession to the Presidency with a team forming the government already pre-established around 2030, of (Pan)Africanist, Anti-Globalist and environmentalist ideology.

In the “Emergencies” column, the actions to be carried out more or less “with the means at hand” when taking office. The “Reforms” are the profound changes requiring large investments, to be made when the state will be reorganized and the public finances cleaned up.

Obviously, it will be necessary to climb the political ladder step by step, starting by convincing the population of the merits of the project. This document serves above all as a basis for collaborative debates in order to build together the proposals to be defended by future candidates for the elections.

WARNING! To make it a real project, two elements are missing: Knowledge of the reality on the ground (social, cultural, legislative, etc.) and the budget for the implementation of the said projects, but this document is not intended to integrate these aspects. Let's first try to imagine together the big "WHAT", the image of the ideal Guinea-Bissau, Guinetopia, without psychological, social or financial barriers. The “HOW” will be the second step.

"No one has yet achieved a victorious revolution without revolutionary theory!"

"I am a simple African trying to pay my debt to my people"

Amilcar Cabral

“The most important thing, I think, is to have led the people to have confidence in themselves, to understand that ultimately, you have to sit down and write down your development, you have to sit down and write down your happiness, he can say whatever he wants. And at the same time, to feel what is the price to pay for this happiness”

Thomas Sankara
